Episode 113: Of Wards and Game Awards
Creepy hospital wards and video game award shows don’t often go together, but sometimes we’ve just got to live up to that “random” in our name. As such, in this episode of the Random Nintendo Podcast, we’re sharing full impressions of both Dementium Remastered for 3DS and our trip to the 2015 Game Awards. The show kicks off with an in-depth discussion of the upcoming NX as we examine leaked patents that point to the first truly plausible ideas of what the system could be. Our attention then turns to Nintendo’s broader strategy as we cover the company’s newfound focus on Disney-style IP expansion. From there, we hone in on specific news stories such as Minecraft: Wii U Edition’s official reveal and November’s sales charts, before concluding with those Dementium and Game Awards impressions. Episode 28: Virtuous Rewards
Hey Jason and Angel!
Great show as always! All your hard work and dedication to a podcast every other week is really appreciated. Oh before I forget, thanks for sharing some other listeners stories, I really enjoyed Amanda’s, putting the N64 back in the box everyday, that’s dedication.
I really hope that the NX is a as crazy-awesome as it sounds. I’m really interested and excited to see what 2016 has in store for us Nintendo-fans.
I thought Nintendo handled the Game Awards in quite a classy-manner. The tribute to the late Iwata-san was well done. It was also really nice to see Nintendo get some recognition for the quality of their games. Namely Splatoon winning “Best Shooter” and “Best Multiplayer.” In those two categories, with so much major competition, it was nice to see the originality and fun of Splatoon getting recognized.
I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Final Smash Direct. I thought it was good, perhaps a bit bitter-sweet. While all good things come to end, it is sad to know that Smash DLC has finally ended. I did appreciated Sakurai-san’s comment that they started making DLC “after” the game was finished, it was a nice change from pretty-much all other companies. And while I do love Fire Emblem games, I think another Fire Emblem character may have been a stretch. While I’m still excited to see how Corrin plays, maybe representation from a different franchise would have been nice. Also not a fan of Bayonetta in general. But all in all very happy with the Final Smash Direct.
Anyways, thanks again for such a great show, you guys are my favorite Nintendo show out there. Looking forward to the next podcast!
