Extra: The Sights of WonderCon 2016
WonderCon has been through many homes. It first began in the San Francisco Bay Area, before moving down to Anaheim for a few years to only then settle temporarily in Los Angeles this year. And with each move came more and more involvement from Nintendo, who went all-in at this year’s show with not just a booth, but a panel too. Below, you can find our full photo gallery of all the gaming (and not-so-gaming) sights of WonderCon 2016.
Of course, the key part of any Nintendo booth is the games. For WonderCon, Nintendo brought Star Fox Zero (complete with giant Arwings to sit in and a 90 minute wait for the privilege to do so), companion title Star Fox Guard, Pokken Tournament, the first-ever co-op demo for Metroid Prime: Federation Force, and the just-released Hyrule Warriors Legends. Playing these games would net you free swag like a Star Fox logo patch or plastic Master Sword stylus. Nintendo also dedicated its Saturday showing to Hyrule Warriors Legends with both a panel and in-booth signing featuring producer Yosuke Hayashi and director Hiroya Usuda of Koei Tecmo’s Team Ninja. During the panel, the two of them discussed the making of the game, took fan questions, and made the surprise announcement of Marin of Link’s Awakening joining the Hyrule Warriors Legends DLC roster.
All of this added up to one of the more impressive WonderCon showings for Nintendo. See for yourself with our photos of the booth, panel, and the many other sights of the show floor below. Be sure to also check back this Sunday for our new podcast episode featuring hands-on impressions of both upcoming Star Fox games, Metroid Prime: Federation Force, and more.
